Bishop Kevin L. Adams, Sr., Senior Pastor
Bishop Kevin L. Adams, Sr., is a visionary, international humanitarian, trusted community advisor, leader and senior pastor of Olivet Baptist Church (OBC). Called to preach at the age of 8 years old, Adams’ has been preaching the Gospel for over 30 years. He was formally installed as pastor of OBC in December 1991. In 1991 the congregation began with 300 members and to date has grown to over 6,000 and counting. He has implemented a number of ministries that teach economic self-sufficiency and programs that address how to reduce and prevent community violence including the Soul Winning Task Force and the Citizens Safety Coalition amongst others, as well as establishing the scholarship program, GED program, and the Matthew 25 ministry which feeds and clothes the homeless.
Adams’ has appeared on THE WORD Network and is a regular guest of the Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) both locally and nationally. Additionally, he has received numerous awards and accolades. One of his most recent accomplishment is receiving the Presidential Lifetime Achievement award in early 2017. He was installed as Bishop in 2015 in Chattanooga, TN and created Joseph’s Brothers Fellowship; an aggregation of pastors, whose headquarters is located in Chattanooga, TN. He has also been recognized numerous times by the Tennessee Senate and the Tennessee House of Representatives for over 30 years of service to the Chattanooga community. In 2010, Adams was inducted in the Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr. International Board of Preachers. He continued his education by studying Theology of Encounter at the University of Oxford and also a pursued his Doctorate Degree at St. Thomas Christian College. He is the author of the book, Defining Moments and the founder of Kevin L. Adams Ministries Inc.
Bishop Adams’ unique anointing, transparency, and clear and bold teaching has not only transformed lives locally, but is making a positive impact worldwide. He was recently recognized as an honorary U.S. Consulate of Senegal and also installed 15 water wells in Ghana for a humanitarian effort hosted by Project Compassion.
He continues to be one of the most sought after speakers in the faith-based community and beyond. From keynotes and panels to providing national commentary to strategic and community planning. He is considered a community expert that has built his legacy on uniting people and bringing about peace.
One of the most endearing characteristics about Bishop Adams is his heart for the people. He credits his mentors, including Craig Ervin, Dr. Mark Hanby, Bishop Noel Jones, the late Bishop Eddie Long and the late Dr. Kelly Varner. He is the son of Ms. Martha Adams. He is married to the beautiful Lady Cynthia Adams and they have three beautiful children, Kevin, Jr., Alexis and Kayli.
Bishop Adams shares, “There are many scriptures that are my favorite, but the one that I strive daily to live by is Matthew 6:33, which simply says: Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Lady Cynthia Adams, First Lady
Cynthia Adams is the First Lady of the Olivet Baptist Church, where she stands with her husband, faithfully serving God and ministering to the growing flock of the church. She was born in Chattanooga, TN and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1992.
Lady Adams ministers the Word of God boldly through song and teaching, believing God to transform lives. Cynthia Adams began singing as a child in her church choir and participated in several local choirs and groups during her childhood and young adult years. She has two live recording projects including Lady Cynthia Adams Live, In Spirit and Truth (2000) and Come Into His Presence (2004). Her most recent project is her single titled Be Still (2012).
She is well known and respected in her community and also participates in numerous social, religious, and political engagements. Through singing and teaching, she has impacted lives locally and nationwide with the desire to glorify God and edify his message.
Lady Adams shares,“God saw it fitting to entrust such an extraordinary anointing on my life and place the gift of exhortation on such an unworthy vessel, therefore, I feel it is my responsibility to be obedient to the call and obey the Master’s will for my life. I desire to see my Savior face to face and he Him say, ‘Servant well done!’”
